Captain Anshuman Singh's family claims his widow took his Kirti Chakra and personal items after his heroic death.
The family of the late Captain Anshuman Singh, who died in a Siachen fire heroically last year has accused his widow Smriti of walking off with his Kirti Chakra award and personal items. Ravi Pratap Singh, 45, the father of Anshuman said that she tried to just remove anything and control his life from thereon by getting her name on all official correspondence. So she returned after Shailendra's funeral despite their objections. Manju, his mother recalled how Smriti took the Kirti Chakra from her hands after the award ceremony. Captain Anshuman Singh, a native of Deoria in Uttar Pradesh who saved several comrades during the Siachen incident despite being severely injured, was also awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously.
