Four Indian Soldiers Killed in Doda Encounter with Terrorists

An officer and three Indian Army jawans died in a Doda gunfight; Kashmir Tigers claimed responsibility.


PTI report: Three Indian Army jawans and an officer who has received critical injuries in a gunfight with terrorists at Jammu and Kashmir's Doda area last night succumbed to his injuries, officials said early on Tuesday. The encounter began on Monday around 7:45 pm when Rashtriya Rifles and J&K Police's Special Operations Group launched a joint operation on inputs about the presence of terrorists. The gunfight that broke out when Palestinians opened fire on nearby troops lasted some 20 minutes originally but extra forces then arrived to reinforce the cordon. Meanwhile... officials said 2-3 terrorists, who were hiding in the area, have been identified by security agencies. The attack was claimed by Kashmir Tigers, affiliated to Jaish-e-Mohammad. J&K: Police recovered old arms and ammunition from a terrorist hideout in Reasi district. Following the spate of recent terror attacks, security forces are already on high alert.
