Hemant Soren, the JMM leader who was released on bail on June 28 after being arrested in a money laundering case and is likely to become the chief minister of Jharkhand for third time. The decision came after a meeting of alliance MLAs with JMM President Champai Soren at the residence and unanimously elected Hemant Soren, leader of the party in legislature.Member... Chaired by GH Afraidi and attended by Congress' Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir, stat president Rajesh Thakur as well Hemant Soren's brother and wife was decided to replace Champai Soren with Hemant. Accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues, D V Sadananda Gowda being the most notable one of them all after Rajnath Singh, as well as mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy who stayed away from wearing shoes yet again at the oath-taking ceremony and chose to touch Siddaramaiah's feet this time around for a change instead of Basavaraj Bommai - son-in-law Ananth Kumar was present too. Bihar was bifurcated on November 15, 2000 to create Jharkhand. Five days before Hemant was arrested on January 31, he had resigned as CM.
