Two rescued from a collapsed building in Navi Mumbai's Shahbaz village; two more trapped. IMD issues rain alerts for Mumbai.


Over two people were being freed from under the debris in a three-story building that fell due to incessant downpour at Shahbaz village of Navi Mumbai on Monday morning. The incident which took place at around 5 am in Shahad-Belapur Village saw a big rescue operation by the Fire Brigade and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) carried out. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NNMC) Commissioner Kailas Shinde confirmed that two more people are trapped under debris and rescue work was on. On July 20, an incident of balcony collapse in the city's Grant Road area had killed one and injured another thirteen. For Mumbai and Thane, there is a yellow alert with moderate to heavy rain likely on Sunday while an orange alert (very intense rains) has been issued for Raigad, Pune among other districts.
