A damaged helicopter being airlifted from Kedarnath by another chopper accidentally fell mid-air after the towing rope snapped.

Quoting the same source during recovery operation, a Crystal helicopter which was damaged during landing at Kedarnath Dham slipped off an Air Force MI–17 helicopter and vanished in the hills.

Police bosses said the accident, which was captured on camera, did not cause any losses of life.

The development was stated by the district tourism officer of Rudraprayag Rahul Chaubey who stated that the pilot was compelled to release the snag hit chopper after the MI-17 began to lose balance during the airlift around 7 am. Soon the MI-17 take off began to experience serious problems because of the weight of the helicopter and strong wind it started tilting. Because of this, the pilot decided to perform an emergency landing of the helicopter in a certain area close to the Tharu camp in a valley.

Chaubey also said that there was no passengers or luggage at the time of the incident. In a related accident on the same day, the same helicopter was involved in another emergency landing with seven occupants on board mainly the pilgrims and all were fortunately not hurt.
