A magisterial inquiry investigates multiple deaths at Asha Kiran, Delhi's mental health facility, amid claims of health issues and malnutrition.


The Delhi government has directed a magisterial inquiry into the deaths of several inmates at Asha Kiran, which is working as city's only home for mentally-ill people. In separate instances between July 15 and July 31, allegedly due to “health issues and malnutrition,” a dozen inmates perished (Times of India). Report to be submitted in 48 hours: Delhi Revenue Minister Atishi According to an SDM investigation, these 13 children died in the shelter since last 20 days. It is also not yet clear what killed the men, and post-mortem reports are expected to be carried out this coming week. A National Commission for Women fact finding team has been deployed to a shelter and the commission is auditing other government night shelters.
