Helicopter Crashes in Pune Due to Bad Weather, No Fatalities Reported

AW 139 helicopter crashes in Pune amid strong winds; four onboard, captain injured, others stable.


A helicopter with four passengers aboard crashed on saturday in Pune owing to gusts of wind and unfavourable weather conditions. The helicopter model was the AW 139, which belongs to Global Vectra Helicorp; the helicopter was flying from Juhu in Mumbai for Hyderabad when the crash occurred in the Paud territory. Initially, it was reported that there were no fatalities as a result of the crises. However, the captain, named Anand, was injured in the mishap and has been a patient of Sadar Hospital ; the remaining three passengers are stated to be in a stable condition.

 

An official to PTI said, “The captain of the helicopter has serious condition, and the other three are reported stable The actual reason behind the crash remains unknown At least, this one happened at a similar vein with the private helicopter crash in May in which Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Sushma Andhare was intending to board the helipcopter. But the pilot was able to bail off just before the crash. 

IMD had predicted a ‘orange’ alarm, indicating ‘heavy to very heavy’ rainfall in the Pune and Satara districts of western Maharashtra. An IMD official said that a low-pressure area over east central Arabian Sea will cause most parts of Maharashtra to experience rain within next 48 hours.
