Israel and Hezbollah Escalate Conflict with Mutual Strikes Amid Rising Tensions

Israel launches pre-emptive strikes in Lebanon as Hezbollah fires rockets, escalating tensions in the region.


The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah intensified on the August 25, when the Israel military forces carried out pre-emptive air strikes in Lebanon. Israel said the strikes were in response to Hezbollah buildup for what it called “massive operations. ” Earlier, the hezbollah said it fired over 320 rockets on israel, attacking several military positions, which brings the conflict to another level and increases the risk of a full scale war.


Hezbollah said that it had attacked 11 Israeli bases while the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said that they had bombed terror targets in Lebanon to preempt a strike. The Cabinet in Israel met in an emergency session and air traffic to terminal at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv was cancelled. Sounds of warning sounds were heard in the northern part of Israel while the Iron Dome air missile system shot rockets from south Lebanon. Emergency services especially the Magen David Adom ambulance service ramped up on its alert levels. 


This was declared by the Pentagon of the USA According to the statement the United States is ready for defense of Israel. This flare-up happened after raising tensions resulting of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights missile attack that killed 12 and the assassination of a senior Hezbollah commander in Beirut. New civil defence guidelines were due to be issued to the Israeli civilian population, and inhabitants of southern Lebanon were urged to stay clear of Hezbollah areas. 


At the same time, delegations on both sides of the negotiating table in Cairo tried to sign the ceasefire in Gaza.
