Kamala Harris accepts the Democratic presidential nomination, pledging unity, reforms, and commitment to all Americans.

She countered and agreed to the nomination by the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, in the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. During the conference half an Indian-American woman give a keynote speech in which she tells about her mum’s experience in India and America as well as her concerns for unity and division. ‘’I’ll accept your nomination to be President of the United States of America,” Harris said to laughter, vowing to uphold American values such as the rule of law, free and fair elections, and a transfer of power.

There followed a rundown of the policy areas Harris cares about: housing deficit in America, the immigration system, Ukraine and NATO countries. She was rather harsh in her indignation against the former president Donald Trump that dubbed him an ‘unsisere man’ who abused his authority for his own benefit.

Reflecting on her own and her mother's journey, Harris noted the significance of her nomination: ”I have come a long way too,” She said and reminisced about her Indian born mother Shyamala Harris who she said she misses every day.

Kamala Harris is a first Indian-American and Black woman to be nominated in the ticket of President in USA. She was the Democratic candidate after Biden’s allies prevailed on him to step down from the race.
