In a major set back to senior Congress leader and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Governor Githarbhai V. Tur would approve prosecuting him in the MUDA land scam case following a compliant by an RTI activist. This was present in the communication sent to the Chief Minister’s Office. This is related to the alleged irregularities in land allotment of the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA). His wife, Parvathi Siddaramaiah, is alleged to have gained from anomalies while her 3-acre plot in Kesare village in Mysuru was swapped for prime plots located at Vijayanagar near the city. Opponents argue the value of these new plots has long been outstripped by those in its original land. Siddaramaiah has refuted all allegations and said the charges would be contested in court, insisting no law was violated while giving land to a group. The case has been widely covered in the press.
