Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has offered apology several times over the history for the toppling of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Sindhudurg district. He appealed to the opposition not to politicise the matter, saying that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj should not be brought into political battles. His comments came after several ‘black’ days observed across the state under the leadership of NCP led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

The giant statue of 35 feet height of the founder of the Maratha empire fell on the 26 August when it was only nine month that the statue was installed with the honours of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Being implemented by the Indian Navy in collaboration with the state government funds were available for the project. But the Navy has promised to restore and replace the statue as soon as possible.

The deputy CM of the state, Ajit Pawar, has warned saying that stern action will be taken and cannot forgive mistakes such as these. Maha Vikas Aghadi government wants to organize a protest rally on 1 st of September in Mumbai.
