Mohanlal Distances Himself from Power Group Allegations, Calls for Accountability Across Malayalam Film Industry

Actor Mohanlal denies being part of any "power group" mentioned in the Hema Committee report and urges industry-wide accountability.
Mohanlal stated he is not involved in any power group within the Malayalam film industry and is unaware of such a group's existence.

After Days of silence on Hema Committee report Released superstar Mohanlal said, he is not part of any ‘power group ‘ mentioned in the report released, while calling for the responsibility to be absolute for the entire Malayalam film fraternity, not only the AMMA. K J Yesudas, Mohanlal, who recently resigned as AMMA’s president, appealed for restraint saying that AMMA should not be targeted and condemned for the act since the whole industry is involved. 

 

 He applauded the government for putting the report out saying it was the right thing to do; and reiterated that those involved in misconduct will be held to account as more probes are conducted. The Mishra’s question regarding the responsibility of industry Mohanlal responded that it is a big industry where lots of people are working; many people should not be blamed for what few ones are doing. 

 

 In Malayalam film industry, and especially after the Hema Committee report, new complaints of sexual harassment surfaced frequently and this forced people to open their eyes and demand justice. Its 17 member executive committee Including Mohan Lal resigned on 27-August stating the necessity of change. 

 

 Hema committee was set up by the Kerala government after 2017 actress assault case, and there are reports of harassment and exploitation. Beside these revelations a Special Investigation Team has been established to look into the allegations of the various personalities of the industry.
