MVA announces a statewide bandh on August 24 to protest the sexual assault of two young girls at a Badlapur school.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government has declared Maharashtra Bandh on August 24 over the sexual assault of two kindergarten girls in a Badlapur school. Earlier on, last week to be precise, the girls were said to have been assaulted by a school attendant within a toilet. Speaking on the subject, the senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, Sanjay Raut said that the MVA allies had met for the purpose of discussing the future assembly elections but what was discussed was this matter.

The chairperson of Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Susieben Shah said that the management of the school tried to hush up the crime rather than helping the parents in filing a police report. She said that the situation worsened as a result of delay in both aspects, that is, in informing the police and conducting the medical examination. This infuriated the public of Badlapur and urges for severe punishment of the accused were carried out in form of very massive demonstrations.
