Farooq Abdullah announces NC and Congress have finalized seat-sharing for all 90 seats in J&K assembly elections.

The NC and Congress have decided the seat sharing for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections said the National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah. Speaking to media after his meeting with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and the Leader of the Lok Sabha – Rahul Gandhi, Abdullah said that the alliance is rock – solid and will go forward seamlessly. The deal involves all the ninety parliamentary seats in the state and the certification should be done by evening.

Abdullah underlined the replenished young, vigorous and joint Congress-NC alliance joined with the CPM under MY Tarigami. He said he was looking forward to performing well in the election to improve the welfare of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier in the day, Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had a meeting with Farooq and Omar Abdullah at the latter’s Srinagar residence. There are indications that Congress intends to fight 12 seats in the valley and provide 12 seats to NC in the Jammu division that has 43 assembly constituencies whereas Kashmir has 47.

As for the friendly cooperation with the PDP Abdullah remarked that this could be discussed after the elections. At least the NC and Congress alliance has the common agenda of fighting the election and defeating sectarian forces in the country.
