PM Modi to Lay Foundation Stone for Vadhvan Port in Maharashtra

PM Modi to inaugurate the Vadhvan Port project in Palghar, set to be one of India's largest ports, boosting global trade.

Today is a very important day for the Bharatiya Janata Party led Central Government since the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi will perform the ceremonial foundation laying of the Vadhvan Port project at Palghar in the state of Maharashtra. To be one of the biggest deep water Ports of India it is planned to be constructed at Vadhvan near Dahanu town. The proposed integrated industrial complex of ₹76,000 crore will lead to direct sea link with international navigation that will cut the transit time cost. Advanced technology will be incorporated at the port to include; 9 x 1000-meter container terminal, multipurpose berths, liquid cargo berths, Ro-Ro berths, and special Coast Guard berths, efficient cargo handling facilities, and modern management tools. 

 

 A statement coming from the office of Prime minister Modi said that the port will be able to generate employment and will increase the activity of local enterprises in the region. The Vadhvan Port project also would be ‘Green’ friendly, endeavoring to reduce the pressure on environment and follow highly stringent ecological norms. 

 

 Upon its construction, the ports will bring additional benefits to the maritime communication Infrastructure of India and strengthen its role as an important player in the international market. As stated in the MyGov, the government’s citizen engagement platform, Vadhvan Port could be in the list of ten best ports in the world. It will also act as a trade center in Arabian sea connecting with Far East Europe, Middle East Africa and America. With the project expected to be completed by 2030, the proposed project is expected to result into creation of 1. 2 million jobs.
