"Stree 2" featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has done incredibly good business, earning over Rs 300 crore in the first week of its release although there was a marginal drop in collections on second Thursday. The film collected Rs 9. 40 crore pre release, Rs 55. 40 crore on the first Thursday and remained steady through the week, by second Thursday second was Rs 307. 80 crore India trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The film is now aspiring to cross the domestic business of Rs 400 crore.
Exhibitors especially those operating in mass-market areas and single screen benefited from the shift as they would experience increased turn up of audiences. On Thursday, the movie had 27. 62% occupancy in Hindi shows. In the International market “Stree 2” was the fastest Bollywood movie to cross Rs 400 crore and earned Rs 401 crore worldwide in the first week.
Interviewed after the release of the film one of its main actors Abhishek Banerjee cautiously suggested that there would be a third part adding that it is not going to take as long to be made as the second part. ‘Stree 2’ is the sequel to the blockbuster ‘Stree’ released in 2018 and is part of the Maddock supernatural universe, films such as ‘Roohi’ and ‘Bhediya. ’
