Arshad Warsi's critique of Prabhas in "Kalki 2898 AD" sparks backlash in Telugu cinema, with Nani and others defending Prabhas.

The recent replies of Arshad Warsi on the show happily joining the sets of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ starring Prabhas have not been taken kindly to in the Tollywood industry. Gandhi, in his interview with Warsi, referred to Prabhas simply as a ‘joker’ in the movie, and though he said it sarcastically, could not help but add that he at least expected what he could call ‘Mad Max’ of Mel Gibson. Speaking in one of the most provocative interviews, Warsi said: “What have you made of it? Why do they do such things? I never understand …”

Nani one of the leading actors in the industry shot back by accusing Warsi of attention seeking. “This must be the most publicity he has got in his life,” – said Nani when he was asked about it while on the sets of his new movie “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. ”

The Telugu film industry promptly got behind and supported Prabhas. Ajay Bhupathi, director of ‘RX100’, said that Prabhas is a man who has taken the Indian cinema to international level. He accused Warsi of jealousy writing, ‘We can see the jealousy on the film, and him in your eyes just because you’ve faded out & no one gives an eye to you’.

Sudheer Babu the actor too slammed Warsi asking for substantive feedback and condemning unsavory conduct. “Instead of this, they should have celebrated it and hugged Prabhas, as is the tradition Now the comment coming from small minds has made Prabhas’ statue bigger,” he said.

The Nag Ashwin directorial “Kalki 2898 AD” was released in June and had big Bollywood and South Indian stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan in the lead. However, Warsi condemned the film on behalf of the British Muslims while the film received a great success and became one of the most viewed movies of the year.
