taking cognizance of the political developments that led to the abrogation of Article 370, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the statehood will be restored after the assembly elections. Addressing a rally in Jammu on September 7, Shah termed the elections historic for the first time the people of the state will vote under one Constitution and the Indian Tricolour. He dismissed the two leaders Rahul Gandhi and Farooq Abdullah as having misled the population in aspiring for statehood saying only the Union government, led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi could facilitate this. 

 

 Shah also rubbished the calls for self-ruled territory for the Jammu and Kashmir, stating that “no power” can seek such things. He also went further to explain how the opposition parties especially congress national conference and the PDP were only interested in bringing the region the back to the era of corruption. Shah refused any kind of discursus with the Pakistan until the peace is attained.

Shah was also keen to underline the fact that Article 370 is not coming back and it has no future. His visit that was majorly marked the launching of the party’s manifestos. It will be a three phase poll starting September 18 and ending on October 1 and the results will be declared on October 8.
