An old viral video of BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover has re-emerged when the topic of workplace culture is being discussed in the light of Stailing death of Ernst & Young (EY) employee Anna Sebastian Perayil.

The video that focuses on Cal from EY shows how Grover resigned on the first day even though he was offered ₹ 1 crore package. He said the office was lifeless and the employees were dead and corpses Grover also said that offices said to be toxic produce the most.

Political correctures have ensued his remarks especially after the alleged suicide of Anna, a 26-year-old chartered accountant at EY’s Pune office, attributable to work stress. The chairman of CK Birla group, billionaire Harsh Goenka was not amused by Grover’s sermon for toxic workplaces and promptly tweeting the video with the handle #AnnaPerayil.

In a letter containing grief and anger, Anna’s mum pointed at working pressure as a cause of her daughter’s death and accused EY of not showing up at the funeral. She urged that the company set new work culture by putting in measures to avoid such incidences in future.

To this, EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani emphasized on change and issued a public apology for the company’s failure to attend Anna’s funeral saying that it goes against EY’s policies.
