The BJP leader and ex-Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhair has said Siddaramaiah should quit for Karnataka saying that he should not become “the second Arvind Kejriwal who was dumped after a verdict”. Chandrasekhar made the comments after the Karnataka High Court dismissed Siddaramaiah’s petition against Thaawarchand Gehlot, the Governor, for permitting investigation on the supposed scam linking Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
Chandrasekhar made it clear to the governor that the court has affirmed the sanctioning of an investigation into the matter. He leveled serious charges against Siddaramaiah that the Chief Minister had indulged in the scam wherein valuable land had been given to Siddaramaiah, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge family and other Congress persons in Karnataka.
The BJP leader also accused Siddaramaiah of replicating Congress style of making promises to help the poor and at the same enriching him. He also urged the Leader of the Opposition to be clear on the stand of the party with regards the issue at hand.
The MUDA scam involves allegations of irregularities in land allotments under a 50:50 site distribution scheme under which the land owners were provided 50 per cent developed sites in lieu of the public site acquisition. The issue of the allocations came to light when it was alleged that his wife, Parvathi, was given 14 premium plots in Mysuru in clear breach of the rules. MUDA had bought it with the intention of developing the land and this had consequentially led to bleats of favoritism and corruption.
