The investigation carried out by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) disclosed that documents regarding the rape and murder of a 31- year old Junior Doctor of RG Kar Medical College and hospital were fabricated and tampered at Tala police station. This disclosure was made during the custodial interrogation of two accused persons, namely; Sandip Ghosh who was the ex-principal of RG Kar medical college and Abhijit Mondale the officers in charge of tala police station where the crime took place on 9th of August.
According to a note the CBI produced before the Sealdah court they found that in relation to the case false records were fabricated. Also, CCTV from the Tala police station, hard disks, and digital video recorders have been taken for forensic evaluation.
The case, initially delayed by 14 hours, drew criticism as the police only lodged a general diary entry at 11:post midnights 30 pm of the day that the incidence occurred. Mondal's lawyer defended him by stating that the officer responded promptly upon receiving information at 9:At exactly 30 am and reached the crime scene at 10:30am. He explained that there was no premptive delay or conspiracy participation.
On the other hand, Ghosh’s lawyer said that the conspiracy charges leveled against his client were still an open question and petitioned a bail. But the court has dismissed both bail applications.
Meanwhile, the CBI team again interrogated forensic professor Apurba Biswas on Sunday as well. Biswas had formed part of the board of doctors that had conducted the post-mortem on the deceased, and the CBI enquired on the forensic details as well as the injuries found on the body of the junior doctor.
