He was also reported to be admitted at AIIMS, Delhi on a ventilator in a critical condition with acute respiratory tract infection problem due to the declaration of Sitaram Yechury, the general secretary of the C. P. I. (M) Party. The 72-year-old leader was hospitalised on August 19 with pneumonia-like chest infection and is being treated by a medical team. Other reports suggested that his condition was stable, but his party has just released a statement that he is still in critical condition. Specific nature of this ailment that has affected Havel has not been explained.

Yechury who recently had undergone cataract operation had twitted a message of alliance of CPI-M, Congress & National Conference for coming J&K assembly elections. He also put up a video following the demise of the former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.

Yechury has been part of CPI-M since 1975 and actively involved in establishing the party’s base at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, developing coalitional strategies for his party; he was heavily involved in negotiations of the United Progressive Alliance in 2004. Yechury has been especially critical of the Union government and has recently raised concern with how the government has been trying to plant its own people in organisations run by the RSS.

While the leader is still under watch by his doctors, this situation is of great worry to his party and those who supports him.
