Devara: This is Jr NTR’s big comeback after RRR and yes there is a lot of anticipation around Part 1. To date, it has received pre-bookings of over $2.5million in North America only, according to Prathyangira Cinemas. They said that its people had gradually been experiencing a rising eagerness towards it and compared the trend to that of a “full-blown tsunami”.
In India it has already collected around Rs 43 crore through advance bookings only. With 10,74,325 tickets sold, the Telugu version collected ₹ 26,49,41,250 while the Hindi version sold 69,95,000 tickets and collected ₹ 69,95,000. In addition, the extra bookings from the various dubs of Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada also contributed to achieving these figures.
Similar expectation has been there for 2D IMAX, total 3498 tickets for Telugu version was sold with approximate amount of ₹21,35,000 and 290 tickets for Hindi version with selling amount of ₹ 1,45,000 only.
Specifically, Devara operates actively in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Karnataka & Tamilnadu either. These are figures that project the film for a strong showing on its first day box office. A departure from the current practice of not giving theatrical run, the film will have a theatrical release for 50 days, outplaying a normal four-week run for most South Indian movies in Hindi circuits.
Devara is made under Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts where Jr NTR is seen in two avatars; the movie introduces Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan to the Telugu cine world. Prakash Raj, Shruti Marathe, Shine Tom Chaco, Srikanth and many others are in the star cast of the movie. Whether it breaks RRR’s opening day records or not, that would be interesting to watch.
