There was shooting at Apalachee High school in Georgia where at least four people were killed and more than a dozen students were injured. According to information, the shooter who is being identified to be 14 years old boy was apprehended by the police. The shooting was said to have happened at about 10:23 in the morning, thus, causing a ‘hard lock down’ in the school. Some of the victims had been air-lifted while others were extremely injured in the process of evacuation.

People had to flee the building and some of them ran to the nearest pasture where they stayed. Atlanta’s Mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms and Georgia’s Governor Brian Kemp agreed with the actions taken by the state agencies while President Biden has been briefed on this situation. As for the IS’s involvement in the attack, the main question of why the attack was carried out has not been answered yet.

This shooting puts the ever increasing tally of heinous attacks on learning establishments in the United States giving rise to more discussions and debates on the issues relating to ‘gun control’ legislation. Sheriff Jud Smith as well referred it as the “evil thing”, while the students narrated their experience of getting an ear of gun shots and running for dear life.

This is a sad story of the Apalachee High School shooting, a sad testimony of the wave of such incidents that continue to take place in the US increasingly. Measures towards these problems still become centre stage of discussion over guns and schools protection across the country.
