S Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister said it was necessary to save current conflicts the world cannot sit idly on large scale violence. Jaishankar touched on the war in Ukraine and the conflict in Gaza and said it is necessary to address them. He urged the international community to first appreciate the systemic ramifications of such violence, saying that there is no schism between peace and development.

Jaishankar also expressed his displeasure of how little consideration is afforded to economical outcomes for the affected commoners during war. He also emphasized the importance of operating based on the international legal framework and obligations, calling upon presidents – leaders of the world – to show the correct example to support safety and stability around the world.

Hitting out at Pakistan, Jaishankar said that Pakistan’s policy of cross-border terrorism is counterproductive and called Pakistan’s situation ‘karma’ for the internal anarchy the country is suffering from. He threatened that Pakistan has to pay the price for sponsoring terrorism, saying the only matter under dispute between the two neighbors is the eviction of illegally occupied territories in India by Pakistan. Speaking about the threats from terrorism, Jaishankar pointed out that terrorism will not triumph, and that pakistan cannot enjoy the freedom of action.

This address brought India back to stage on terrorism and on conflict resolution that called upon the world cooperation on some of the major international challenges.
