The junior doctors from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have urged the CBI to expedite its investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee, which occurred on August 9. On Friday, they marched from Swasthya Bhavan to the CBI office in Salt Lake, demanding swift action and the arrest of all responsible parties.

Although several of their demands have been partially or fully addressed, the doctors emphasized that their primary concern — justice for their colleague — remains unresolved. The protest march marked the conclusion of their sit-in demonstration outside Swasthya Bhavan, where they have been on cease-work since the incident. They announced that essential services at government hospitals would resume from Saturday.

The doctors have vowed to maintain pressure on the CBI, threatening to march again if the investigation stalls. Postgraduate trainee Kinjal Nanda stressed the urgency of the situation, stating, “We are still very far from justice for Abhaya.”

Concerns were raised regarding the CBI's track record in solving cases, referencing past failures like the unsolved theft of Rabindranath Tagore’s Nobel medallion. The doctors also demanded accountability from various officials, including the resignation of the health secretary, with further action promised if hospital safety measures aren’t improved.
