Total sales in August, according to Maruti Suzuki India, was at 181,782 vehicles, a 4 percent slump from 189,082 vehicles sold in the same month, previous year. Domestic passenger vehicle had a market sale of 143,075 units that is 8% lower than 156,114 units. Maruti’s mini segment car sales with models such as Alto and S-Presso dropped to 10,648 units as against 12,209 units of the previous year While, compact car sales with models Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis and Swift declined by 20 % to 58,051 units from 72,451 units.
But the company has done good in the utility vehicles segment which includes models like Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, Invicto, Fronx and XL6 and that has been bumped up to 62,684 units from 58,746 units. The domestic market sales of the Eeco were 10,985 units slightly dropping from 11,649 units of last year whereas the sales of Super Carry light commercial vehicle were at 2,495 units slightly lower than the 2,564 units sold in the previous year.
Exports rose to 26,003 units from 24,614 units during the comparable period of previous year.
The carmaker’s net profit for the three-month period through June escalated 46. 9% to Rs 3,649. 9 crore from Rs 2,485 for the same period a year earlier. It increased its revenue by 9. 9 % to Rs 35,531. 4 Crore. EBITDA was up 49. 1% to Rs 4,448. 3 crore, helped by operating margin of 12. 5% as compared to 9. 2% in the same quarter last year due to better than expected cost control, favourable commodity prices and gains from forex fluctuations.
