One political crisis that Canada is going through is the political crisis that has affected Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s administration after the NDP led by Jagmeet Singh withdrew its support for the Liberal minority government. This decision of NDP puts Trudeau in a dilemma to build new coalition governments to continue with his rule. Still, Trudeau has ruled out the early elections and has vowed to double down on the social measures.

The spark that was boiling between Jagmeet Singh and Trudeau regarding escalating groceries prices, the leader for the NDP called off the deal signed for the partnership for 2022. Singh accused Trudeau of surrendering to greed and said that he would contest the next general elections as a candidate for the post of the Prime Minister.

Frederick Trudeau, who assumed power in 2015, is increasingly facing with increasing pressure from the opposition of the Conservatives criticizing the government for such issues as high inflation and the housing crisis. It is a tremendously difficult situation for Trudeau whose government will depend on opposition lawmakers for passing through confidence votes in the House of Commons.

Still, the NDP might not vote in the confidence, allowing Trudeau to continue governing, though polls indicate that if the elections were held today, Trudeau’s Liberals will lose. The NDP had previously signed a so-called confidence-and-supply agreement under which it promised to support Trudeau until mid-2025.
