Hitting out at the Central government over the two notices sent to her for allegedly violating Twitter’s policies, actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has stirred the political pot with comments on that platform, including about reinstating the farm laws that the government recently withdrew, and the issue has drawn Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi into the matter. On Wednesday, Gandhi initiated a social media spat with the PM where he sought to know whether the Centre intends to enact the three farm laws that have been withdrawn.
In a video message on X (previously twitter), Gandhi asked if the BJP policy is being set by Ranaut or by the Prime Minister. He pointed out that their group, the INDIA bloc will be very much against them if the farm laws were to be passed again. It also urged the public, reminding it of more than 700 farmers who died while protesting the laws in specific states, like Haryana and Punjab. He said that if anyone tried to harm farmers, Modi would have to apologize again.
The matter escalated when Ranaut stated that the center should bring back the farm laws that were drawn down after massive protests. Referring to the laws as the ‘One Nation, One Election’, she said that farmers should seek their back as the laws were only against a few state.
Ranaut followed this up with some more comments on the same topic which almost set the BJP back onto the defensive and they began apologizing. The party leadership immediately disassociated itself with her utterances saying they did not endorse her opinion and urged her not comment again on such issues.
