Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly has been booked in a rape case due to allegation regarding the abuse of a woman from Ernakulam district where she alleged that Pauly sexually exploited her at a hotel in Dubai in 2023 assuming her to be on the merit of offering a film role to her. A producer and four other people are also accused in the complaint which names Pauly as the sixth accused. PAuly denied the allegations when he took to Instagram to defend himself saying that all the claims are falsehoods and that the law will have to be invoked to set the record straight.
The shooting of the case is going to be conducted by a special investigation team lately formed to probe into the sexual abuse cases of the Malayalam film fraternity industry in the light of the recent Justice Hema Committee report. This false report which contained many levels of sexual harassment in the industry has also resulted in legal proceedings against CPI(M) MLA Mukesh and actors Jayasurya, Baburaj Siddique and director Ranjith who later resigned from the post of chairperson of Kerala Chalachithra Academy.
The FIR against Nivin Pauly has charges under section 376 of IPC along with other sections of IPC pertaining to the case that happened in November 2023. Pauly has said that he will pay the allegations in court.
