SC Seeks Fresh CBI Report on RG Kar Hospital Case Probe

 The Calcutta High Court on Monday asked the CBI to file a new status report on the ongoing investigation of the Rwape and murder case of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Hospital at Kolkata. This came after the CBI first send a report indicating a number of leads. 

 

 The Chief Justice DY Chandrachud also pointed out that the investigation is ongoing, and new report which will be the subject of the consideration by the court will be submitted on Tuesday. He did not meddle with investigation conducted by the CBI. 

 

 In course of the hearing Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal appearing for the State of West Bengal pointed out certain inconsistencies relating to the death certificate and the unnatural death report. Although certificate was issued at 1:47 p. m report was filled later on. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on his part noted that official time shows the report was filed at 2300 hours. 

 

 Further, the Solicitor General expressed concerns on lack of proper accommodation for three CISF companies, deployed for security. In response, the state of West Bengal submitted/close servants accommodation located nearby RG Kar Hospital and many more. 

 

 The court directed state and CISF officers that basic necessity of housing should be sorted by the evening time, further necessary provisions will be addressed accordingly.
