The official complaint from the rank and file employees of SEBI has describe its work culture to be poisonous but SEBI has dismissed these claim as misguided and aimed at external influences The recent complaints mainly regarding the Housing Rent Allowances (HRA) for junior officers has angered SEBI as indicated by a statement by the board released on September 4. The regulatory body said that its officers are paid handsome salaries and the first-line officers drawing the CTC of about Rs 34 lakh per annum is competitive with the corporate world. SEBI also pointed out that arrogations for extra emoluments which entailed bringing CTC close to Rs 6 lakh annually were being correlated with work culture. It reiterated that SEBI employees are required to give their best and be answerable for their actions and further said that complaints about a lesser or no pay raise and promotion should not be a way of seeking additional privileges. From the response of SEBI, there seems to be a show of strong stand against the allegations in a bid to explain the situation while at the same time reminding the public of the kind of workforce that the organization employs.
