Following the claims that the laddus sold at the famous Tirum A new ghee supplier, Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has been appointed to make sure that the laddus are as good as the ones sold initially.

The controversy started when allegations emerged that the temple’s prasad had animal fat in it. Even though the TTD refuted the allegations, it introduced the following steps to regain the confidence of devotees. TTD Executive Officer J. Syamala Rao said that there would be no compromise on the quality of laddus and ghee. Some of the other prasadams that contain cow ghee have also been withdrawn from the temples till such time that better quality is ensured.

The Nandini ghee from KMF is being used in the kitchen of the temples where the laddus are made famous for. With the Brahmotsavam festival commencing from October 4, TTD is making sure that the demand of millions of devotees is catered for by the available supply. Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh Naidu, came forward and said that KMF will be able to handle the high demand of ghee in the temple.

As many as 8-9 lakh laddus are prepared in the temple’s kitchen during Brahmotsavam. Also, the TTD has stopped the use of cow ghee for ‘Srivari Prasadams’ apart from tackling issues related to the quality of other items offered in temple. A special committee has been constituted to oversee the standard and to get feedback from the devotees during the fest.

The traffic restrictions have been put in place to control heavy rush during the Brahmotsavam festival and two-wheelers are banned from October 7-9.
