Two soldiers killed, two injured in a gunfight with militants in Kishtwar, J&K. Security tightened ahead of elections.

September 13 saw two soldiers died while two others got injured in a militant encounter in Chatroo, Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter took place at the time when the Indian Army along with the Jammu & Kashmir Police had conducted an operation based on certain inputs received from Intelligence agencies. The operation commenced around 3:30 PM in Chatroo which resulted in exchange of firing with militants. However, there are sad news since two of the injured soldiers died while being taken to the Chatroo hospital. 

 

 The news was however confirmed by the Army’s White Knight Corps, which said that security forces had engaged with militants during the operation. For the moment the operation is still under way further reinforcements have been sent to the location. 

 

 As police sources told, the operation took place in the Pingnal Dugadda forest in the territory of Naidgham village. Currently there are reports that between two and three militants fired at the joint security forces. More people were deployed to the region as reinforcement. 

 

 This meeting takes place before the first phase of voting that is supposed to happen on the September 18 in Kishtwar which increases security measures in that region. The ongoing operation to went equally recently a militant strikes in Udhampur region and rising tensions in the area. Preparations have been made towards the election in Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban that security measures have been beefed up in these areas.
