Since then, Tamil Nadu has a new Deputy Chief Minister appointed by the government with MK Stalin as the State’s Chief Commander, and Udhayanidhi Stalin as his son. Following his appointment as Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi will be given the added portfolio of Planning and Development. His promotion as expected for weeks now strengthens his hold in both the state administration and the reigning DMK party.
As for Udhayanidhi’s promotion, former transport minister Senthil Balaji has been brought back to the cabinet despite being released on bail in a money laundering case only two days ago. Balaji who was remanded in jail for 15 months was chargesheeted in cash for jobs scam during the AIADMK rule. He was released by the Supreme Court but this came with certain conditions namely that there is excessive propensity of delayed prosecution in cases where bail is barely_allowed.
Several new changes have taken place in the cabinet and three ministers namely T Mano Thangaraj, Gingee Masthan and K Ramachandran have been dropped to the ministry. New appointees to the board are Govi Chezhiaan and R Rajendran and SM Nasar will join the organisation.
Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has approved these appointments, and a swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 pm. With these changes the Stalin administration aims at consolidating its authority while approaching the political atmosphere of the state.
