Siddhant Chaturvedi shines in intense action scenes in Yudhra, but the film’s plot lacks emotional depth and character development.

Yudhra, directed by Ravi Udyawar, is a high-octane thriller movie that features Siddhant Chaturvedi as Yudhra the intense under cover cop. The Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani production begins with a bang where we see Yudhra being shot and falling into the sea post which we then go back to his past where we find out how he was traumatized as a kid after he lost his parents, followed by anger issues leading him to get into a world of violence and crime.

Sent to a reform institution after multiple brushes with the law, Yudhra reunites with Nikhat (Malavika Mohanan), in love with whom he promptly falls. Following a fracas in a restaurant and his dishonourable discharge, Yudhra is recruited for a clandestine operation targeting a drugs cartel run by Firoze (Raj Arjun) and his son Shafique (Raghav Juyal). The story segues soon enough into a series of brutal hand-to-hand combat sequences before inevitably hurtling toward the intercontinental chase.

But the real hero of this film are the action set pieces; gunfights and hand-to-hand combats, they are sublime. Siddhant himself has done most his stunts. There is so much reliance on action, that the emotional heft of a film is hollow at its core, but it does get the job done. Special mention for Raghav Juyal , who plays Shafique – a memorable antagonist. Raj Arjun as Firoze , too good , though wasted.

The film sure has some amazing action scenes but it’s the emotional connect that’s missing and also the romance is not impactful enough which makes Yudhra feel a lot more style than substance.
