The BJP’s historic victory in Haryana has ended a speculation of weakened governmental positions, said the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman. In answering questions on whether BJP reduced strength at Centre would mean lesser push for green energy legislations, she stressed on BJP’s Haryana performance. She said the results in Haryana compensate for what is considered a weaker BJP, talking about how the win disproved some of the myths about the government. Sitharaman also pointed out that during the budget session, there was not so sharp opposition and the budget was passed easily.

While in the past the BJP was in majority at the centre, it is now dependent on the allies. The Haryana result came as a shock to many pollsters who expected the Congress to romp home especially after the Lok Sabha elections where it was a virtual ‘no contest’ between the Congress and the BJP. Going against the anti-incumbency factor, the BJP secured 48 seats its highest ever in Haryana while the Congress secured 37 and the INLD two seats.

PM Narendra Modi maintaining dominance on Congress and using condescending language against it for deceiving the public especially Dalits lauded the people of Haryana for ignoring Congress’s conspiracy theories. Modi said that Congress presidency’s allegations about the Dalit reservations being withdrawn was an untruth, saying that they were trying to split the vote of this minority for cheap political policy. The third successive victory of BJP in Haryana is appreciated as a victory though, it was not free from previous hurdles.
