The prime accused in the case seems to have escaped to London. This drug seizure is related to a more extensive network involved in a previous arrest on October 2 when authorities recovered more than 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana from a warehouse in Mahipalpur, south Delhi. That operation was estimated to be worth over Rs 5,620 crore of narcotics alone.
In the October 2 case, four people were caught on the scene while two other people were arrested later in Amritsar and Chennai. Also, one more person was arrested earlier in Hapur of Uttar Pradesh. Policemen have since released a lookout circular (LOC) for Virender Basoya, an India origin based businessman in Dubai who is alleged to have been involved in Rs 5,620 crore drug cartel.
This recent seize is a continuation of earlier campaigns to stop drug menace in Delhi as many narcotics rings in the area are being busted.
