Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, referred to Tata as a ‘’gentleman par excellence ’’ and a visionary while N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, said Tata was a ‘’mentor, guide and friend’’, who was instrumental in the transformation of not only the Tata group but also the country. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Tata is “an outstanding visionary business genius and a sensitive person” whose devotion was loved by all Indians. President Droupadi Murmu appreciated him as one who establishes the link between corporate development and nation building while Home Minister Amit Shah described him as an enthusiast of the country’s development.
Corporate heads including the richest man in India, Mukesh Ambani spoke of the private loss, he said Tata changed the way he interacted. Ambani added: “You will always remain in my heart, Ratan.” Gautam Adani called Tata as ‘a colossus, icon who recast the course of the country.’ Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai also welcomed Tata’s move to groom India’s corporate heads.
Anguished by Tata’s death were also political leaders. Rahul Gandhi was describing him as “a man with a vision,” Union Minister Rajnath Singh as a “titan of Indian industry.” Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also said, The country has lost a true humanitarian.
Cricketer Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman also shared the same feeling and said that life of Tata is inspiring. His death can be said to be an epitome of the end of an efficient generation, but his tenacity, his visionary, and benevolent spirit live on.
