A day after the BJP’s victory in Haryana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a direct assault on Congress and Rahul Gandhi saying they are dividing Hindus. Modi accused Congress of talking about Hindu castes only while not talking about Casteism in Muslims. He accused the party of trying to divide Hindu society to get the votes, further stating that Congress has always been a party that divides and rules.
Modi also alleged that Congress has been working on making up stories to divide the nation; he said that Congress divides Hindu castes and frightens Muslims to ensure they vote as one bloc. “Congress wants to keep the Hindu society on fire to make political gains,” he said, adding that the party is based on politics of religion and caste. Criticizing Congress, Modi said they do not follow the Indian ethos of ‘Sarvajan Hitaye - Sarvajan Sukhaye’ but work to divide the people instead.
Resuming his criticism, Modi said that, having lost power, Congress fuels people’s hatred in an attempt to return to power. He quoted Mahatma Gandhi who said after independence he wanted to dismantle congress because he smelled the party is a divider.
He also spoke about BJP’s third straight win in Haryana saying that the state was the mirror of the nation. Even though congress was the favorite party, their mistakes along with BJP’s performance resulted in an upset. Modi accused the Congress party’s ‘urban-Naxalite ecosystem’ of spreading fake news but said that people understood the truth.
