The Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Vettaiyan collectingRs 4.25 crore on Day 6, the first Tuesday, saw its business diminishing even further in India. The film grossed Rs 31.7 crore on the opening day, then Rs 24 crore, Rs 26.75 crore, Rs 22.3 crore, Rs 5.6 crore on the following days, to reach a total of Rs 114.60 crore India box office. Occupancy rate of the film on Tuesday by languages were TAMIL- 18.34%, TELUGU- 16.04%, HINDI- 8.97%.
In the international market, Vettaiyan finally emerged past the Rs 250 crore milestone which after collections from around the globe reached a final sum of Rs 264.31 crore. Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan said he expects the film to achieve Rs 275 Crores or over by today.
Vettaiyan is a Tamil language police drama directed by TJ Gnanavel The film has Rajinikanth – a Encounter specialist and Amitabh – a Human rights Judge. Khan and Sinha were last seen together on the silver screen 33 years ago in the movie Hum released in 1991.
Stating this Gnanavel said that he considered Bachchan for the role of a retired judge as there should be either equal or higher status than Rajinikanth.
Acted by the president of Lyca Productions, the film is a story of a police officer trying to apprehend a real-life criminal involved in an education fraud. Vettaiyan currently stands with an 8.2/10 rating on IMDb and other leading roles are held by Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier and Dushara Vijayan. It came out in different languages on the 10th of October.
